What is NECYPAA?
NECYPAA is an annual Alcoholics Anonymous conference held in the Eastern area of the US. It is an event for any and all members of AA, and is organized primarily by young recovering alcoholics. We define "young" as "young at heart" or "room to grow."
What is Our mission?
New England Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous (NECYPAA) has but one primary purpose - to carry its message to the alcoholic that still suffers. When anyone, anywhere reaches out for help we want the hand of Alcoholics Anonymous always to be there, and for that we are responsible.
NECYPAA provides visible evidence that large numbers of young people are achieving a comfortable and lasting sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous.
The three legacies of AA- Recovery, Unity and Service- are the backbone of NECYPAA, just as they are throughout AA. We unify young, or young at heart, people in New England by practicing the principles of AA through meetings, events and outreach.
Newcomers are shown by their peers that using AA principles in their daily lives and getting involved in AA service can have a significant impact on a comfortable and lasting sobriety. As the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous states, “We are people who normally would not mix. But there exists among us a fellowship, a friendliness and an understanding that is indescribably wonderful.” NECYPAA shows all people that this is the case.
